Amateur Sports Insurance

Insurance for sports leagues, camps, clubs and facilities. Tell us how your organization operates so a licensed broker can review protection for participants, venues and equipment.

Choose the type of organization or activity, not the sport. For example, a league, training business, facility or tournament.

Licensed in California

Menlo Insurance Services is the filed name of Opero Labs Inc. California license #6020106.

Eight brokers, one team

Our eight brokers work together as one Menlo team, so you can reach a person who understands your account.

Independent brokerage

We hold appointments with multiple carriers, so the quote is shopped rather than served from one shelf.

Plan for the people and places behind the sport

A league, a swim club and a tournament have different schedules and responsibilities. A sports insurance review connects the organization's activities with its liability, venue and equipment needs.

Participants and spectators

Review general liability and participant legal liability together. Accident medical coverage addresses a different need and should be discussed separately from the organization's liability protection.

Venues and contracts

A field, pool or rented facility may require additional insured status. Share the venue's insurance requirements so the broker can review the wording and any needed endorsements.

Equipment and travel

Sports gear and the use of rented or personal vehicles create separate exposures. Ask which equipment and hired or nonowned auto options fit the organization's actual activities.

Organizing a separate fundraiser or celebration? Review its activities and venue requirements independently from the sports program.

Questions we get asked

Can a California sports organization apply?

Yes. California is included in the available amateur sports program. Eligibility and offered coverage still depend on the sport, organization, locations and underwriting review.

Can the venue be included as an additional insured?

Additional insured options are available for venues. Send the broker the contract or insurance requirements so the requested insured status and wording can be reviewed before coverage is confirmed.

Is accident medical insurance the same as liability insurance?

No. Liability coverage addresses covered claims against an insured. Accident medical coverage can help with eligible injury expenses under its own terms. Ask your broker to review both needs and the specific coverage offered.

What information do I need to start?

Have the organization type, legal name, business address, primary sports location and desired effective date ready. Your broker may then request details about activities, participants, venues and the coverage you need.
