ACORD 30 is the Certificate of Garage Insurance. It reports policy information for businesses with garage operations, such as dealers, repair shops, service facilities, or towing operations. The certificate can display several coverage types, but it does not amend the policies, create additional insured status, or guarantee that a customer's vehicle is covered after a loss.

What insurance can appear on ACORD 30?

Vertafore identifies ACORD 30 as the Certificate of Garage Insurance and documents its integration with garage policy information.[1] The form can report garage-related auto liability, general liability, garagekeepers, umbrella or excess liability, workers compensation, and other listed policies when applicable.

Not every garage business buys every coverage, and a checked row does not explain all conditions. Verify each insurer, policy number, effective and expiration date, limit, deductible, and remarks against the issued policy.

What is the difference between garage liability and garagekeepers coverage?

Garage operations can create liability from business activities and use of autos. Garagekeepers coverage addresses a different problem: damage to a customer's auto left in the business's care, custody, or control, subject to the selected coverage basis and policy terms.

A business may need both, but their limits and deductibles can differ. Do not treat an auto liability limit as the amount available for physical damage to a customer's vehicle. Review the actual garagekeepers form, basis, covered causes of loss, exclusions, and any per-location or per-auto amounts.

Does ACORD 30 change the policy or add rights?

No. A Texas Department of Insurance filing for ACORD 30 identifies it as a certificate and states that it does not amend or extend the listed policies.[2] Additional insured status or waiver of subrogation must be supported by policy provisions or endorsements, not only certificate remarks.

ACORD also does not provide coverage or process claims.[3] If the certificate conflicts with the policy, ask the producer for corrected evidence and the applicable endorsement. The insurer-issued policy controls.

Where can you get the official ACORD 30?

Eligible users can search current licensed forms through the ACORD Forms Portal after login.[4] The producer should issue the certificate from verified policy information. This guide is not an ACORD 30 certificate or blank reproduction.

Frequently asked questions

Does garagekeepers coverage insure the customer's belongings inside a vehicle

Not necessarily. Covered property, exclusions, and limits depend on the policy. Review whether personal property inside a customer's auto is included, limited, or excluded.

Does ACORD 30 make the certificate holder an additional insured

No. The applicable policy or endorsement must provide that status. A certificate entry cannot create rights absent from the insurance contract.

The Bottom Line

ACORD 30 summarizes insurance information for garage operations. Read garage liability and garagekeepers entries as different coverages, verify all policy details, and require endorsements for requested rights. The certificate supports communication. It does not replace the policies or determine whether a specific loss is covered.
