Washington Payroll Calculator: Take Home Pay After Taxes

Washington takes no state income tax out of wages, so your paycheck only sees federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare.

Estimates assume one job with a default W-4, the 2026 federal brackets and standard deduction, and published 2026 state rates.

Local income taxes are not included. NYC, Yonkers, Pennsylvania municipalities, Ohio cities, and Maryland counties add a local tax on top.

Payroll is also your workers' comp premium basis

Workers' compensation premiums are rated per $100 of payroll. If you run a business, the same payroll number drives your comp cost.

How this calculator works

The calculator annualizes your gross pay, subtracts your pre tax retirement contribution and the 2026 federal standard deduction, and runs the result through the 2026 federal brackets. Social Security applies at 6.2% up to the $184,500 wage base and Medicare at 1.45% plus 0.9% above $200,000. State tax uses each state's published 2026 rates and standard deduction, and employee paid disability or family leave programs are included for California, New York, Washington, and New Jersey. Everything is divided back into your pay period.
